{"id":1868,"date":"2022-10-06T15:38:21","date_gmt":"2022-10-06T20:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eclient.app\/lawlife\/?p=1868"},"modified":"2022-10-06T15:38:25","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T20:38:25","slug":"host-a-law-of-life-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eclient.app\/lawlife\/2022\/10\/06\/host-a-law-of-life-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Host a Law of Life Summit!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; admin_label=&#8221;section&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>For anyone every wanting to host a pro-life event but unsure how &#8211; here is an opportunity to bring a Law of Life Summit to your town or parish! \u00a0 The Summit has existed now for over 10 years! \u00a0Using our proven system we can help create a program with great speakers and great messaging! \u00a0 Email royce@lawlife.org to inquire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: How do I put on a pro-life event<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A<\/strong>: Hosting, organizing and promoting a pro-life event is actually easier than you think! \u00a0First you need to figure out a few basic questions such as:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why am I hosting an event? \u00a0i.e. what is the purpose and what are the goals? \u00a0Is it to spread awareness? \u00a0 Educate your community? \u00a0Raise money for a pro-life ministry? \u00a0 There is no wrong answer but understanding your goal and &#8220;the why&#8221; will help you as you structure your event and the program. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After you think about the why, it&#8217;s time to hit the other who, what, where and when questions. \u00a0 Think about:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Who<\/strong>: this is a two-sided questions i. who will be your target audience \/ attendees and ii. who will be your target for sponsors\/speakers, etc. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>What<\/strong>: Answering the why will help you answer the what. \u00a0What is the purpose of the event? \u00a0But when you write the answer here think about writing it in a way that will help your invitees understand what the event is. \u00a0 Is it a banquet? \u00a0 A concert? \u00a0 A conference? \u00a0 Something else?\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Where and When<\/strong>: \u00a0Location is important. \u00a0From the geographic location to the venue. \u00a0 Usually the event will be in your own community. \u00a0But perhaps you want to think big and go to a nearby city. \u00a0The venue is sometimes more important than the actual city.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What is a venue<\/strong>? \u00a0 Venue is where you host the event. \u00a0Hotels, civic centers and conference or convention halls are common venues for bigger events. \u00a0 For a smaller or lower budget event look for a parish hall, school cafeteria or even a park. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>How much will the venue cost? \u00a0Is it worth it? \u00a0 Venue costs and requirements can be simple and highly complicated (such as with hotels or convention centers). \u00a0Larger venues might require things like food and beverage minimums, corkage fees or even union contracts for labor. \u00a0Smaller venues usually just have a rental fee and from there you can do what you want (in terms of food, drinks, etc). \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>How do I know how to pick a venue<\/strong>? \u00a0If your event is going to be more localized I recommend starting small when picking a venue. \u00a0Keep it simple. But thinking about your goals and your draw are important factors in addition to your budget. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>What is the draw<\/strong>? \u00a0 The draw is your big speaker or reason for why people are going to be attracted to, or drawn to, your event.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other important factors to host a pro-life event:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Programming<\/strong>. \u00a0Who is your keynote speaker? \u00a0Or if you can&#8217;t afford a keynote can you attract multiple speakers? \u00a0 Will you have food, drinks, entertainment? \u00a0Whenever thinking about a program I focus on people, places and things that would be interesting to me. \u00a0In other words I am not good at selling something that I would not buy. \u00a0 Ask yourself: &#8220;would I want to attend this event?&#8221; \u00a0 Create something unique, exciting and important! \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Money and budget.<\/strong> \u00a0Renting a parish hall and inviting parishioners to a pro-life prayer group or talk is fairly inexpensive and straightforward. \u00a0But hosting a banquet or flying in a nationally recognized speaker can be expensive and a bit more complicated.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How do I raise money for my event<\/strong>? \u00a0 You can raise money for your event through donations, sponsorships and ticket sales. \u00a0Sometimes you can also barter or offer in-kind sponsorships in exchange for goods or services. Be creative! \u00a0Think of ways to <em>bridge the gap<\/em> between what you need to raise and what the expenses are for your event. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Examples on how to bridge the financial gap<\/strong>: \u00a0You can bridge the gap by offering <em>variable ticket prices<\/em>. \u00a0 Variable ticket prices might include several pricing levels from low cost to high cost. \u00a0Right or wrong I always like to offer a free ticket and premium tickets to my events. \u00a0My attitude is if someone recognizes the value or if they want to support the event they will. \u00a0Interestingly when I host the annual Law of Life Summit in DC there are always free general admission tickets. \u00a0But we also offer a couple of premium levels including a $100+ VIP level that has reserved first row seating. \u00a0 The only real perk for the VIP level is knowing that the money helps to underwrite the event. \u00a0We sell out of this level ticket every year! \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sponsors<\/strong>. \u00a0Think about what you can offer in exchange for sponsorship.
