The Catholic Media Portfolio VOLUME TWO – announcing the addition of the ultra-premium, single word domain, Catholic.xyz

Nov 30, 2021.  God works in mysterious ways.  The last week of November I sold one of my favorite domains, reef.xyz.  Honestly I was sad to see it go. And I let it go for much less than what I believe it is worth.  But the ROI was solid considering it only cost me about $10 per year to hold.  In any event, had I not sold reef I would not have stumbled upon the auction for Catholic.xyz.   When I saw the domain, listed for auction at sav.com, I knew I was going to make a play for it.  The bidding was really slow leading up to the final hours of the online auction.  The price floated around $65 for several days with only 2 bids.  I dare not show my face or make my presence known until the last minute when I would swoop in and triumphantly claim my prize.  So I waited.  Much to my chagrin during the wee hours of the morning (about 8 hours before the auction expired) a number of bids came up bringing the price up to $200 and then $800.  Ouch!  This domain was about to get expensive!   The domain eventually went up to $1500 with just 5 minutes to go.  I came in and authorized a proxy bid of up to $1850!  No one else bid and so I nailed Catholic.xyz for $1610 (which was more painful that I wanted but less than I was prepared to go).   I am very excited to add this domain to my portfolio of Catholic names.

After selling reef.xyz I went a little crazy and registered around 80 new .xyz names (I’ll add another post on that subject).  For now, here are the additions that related to my faith:

  • Catholic.xyz – naturally I paired this with CatholicXYZ.com to mitigate confusion over the newer .xyz.
  • Tuus.xyz – my nod to St. Pope John Paul II
