Pro-life leaders, lawyers and activists from around the country held the first ever Law of Life Summit in Schaumburg, Illinois (July 27-28, 2022). The so called Schaumburg Summit included a firehose session, panels, workshops, networking and the Celebration of Life Dinner and Concert.
The Law of Life Summit is generally held in Washington, D.C.,but also also been held in Naples, Florida and in San Francisco. A typical Law of Life Summit usually runs about 3 hours. The Schaumburg Summit was held over the course of 2-days and included over 30 nationally recognized pro-life leaders, dozens of pro-life organizations from across the country and nearly 200 hundred guest attendees.
“The Schaumburg Summit was an opportunity to discuss substantive legal issues emerging since the historic Dobb’s decision,” said attorney Peter Breen who is Senior Counsel and Vice President for the Thomas More Society based out of Chicago. “From abortion tourism to vandalism on pregnancy centers the challenges ahead provide an opportunity for the pro-life movement to win hearts and minds.” Attorneys Tom Brejcha and Martin Cannon also from the Thomas More Society joined Peter Breen for two-legal panels dedicated to post-Dobbs cases and legal matters. Further Peter was a guest panelist for the LifeSiteNews panel. Thomas More Society also hosted over 150 guests for a cocktail hour just before the Celebration of Life Dinner and Concert.

“This Summit was held at truly historic moment in our nation’s history.” said David Bereit, founder and former CEO of 40 Days for Life. “This is the first large-scale and in-person pro-life gathering since the overturning of Roe v. Wade.” David worked closely with Royce Hood from the Law of Life Summit on planning and strategy for the Schaumburg Summit. David also joined EWTN alumni Catherine Hadro for an exclusive panel discussion on pro-life news and call to action. A filmed segment from the Summit is currently in production and will be released in the future.
This event would not have been possible without the support of locals in the Chicago-land area including Susan Schulenberg who helped spread the word. Further attendees were introduced to the next generation of the pro-life moment with the introduction of youth activist Hope Miller. Hope was introduced by her grandmother Ann Scheidler from Pro-Life Action League. Hope gave a fiery and inspiration speech which was in turn quoted by pro-life leaders throughout the remainder of the Summit. For her part, Ann Scheidler was honored during the Celebration of Life with a Mary Ark of the New Covenant Medal provided by the Pre-Born Jesus Ministry.
There were so many incredibly panels and moments it would be difficult to capture all of them in this piece. Chicago based Spirit Juice Studios sponsored a professional photographer to cover the Law of Life Summit. Branden Stanley who is VP of Development for Spirit Juice joined over 30 other pro-life leaders during the firehose session. Just a few of the big names in attendance were:
